Etebo Ruled Out of Brazil Friendly

Completesports

Stoke City FC of England midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, has withdrawn from the Super Eagles squad set to face the Samba boys of Brazil in Sunday’s (October 13, 2019) international friendly billed to hold in Singapore.

Etebo was spotted in Lagos on Wednesday (October 9, 2019), fuelling speculations that he will be unavailable for Sunday’s encounter against the Selecao in the Singapore National Stadium. Rumors about the Potters’ midfielder unavailability for the game were confirmed via a press release by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) with no reason given for his absence. Coach Gernot Rohr and the leadership of the NFF have opted out of calling in replacement for the former Warri Wolves midfielder and Ola Aina, who also pulled out of the encounter due to an injury on Wednesday morning.

With this development, a total of 21 players trained on Thursday morning (October 10, 2019) under the guidance of German tactician Gernot Rohr. The team is expected to have two workout sessions on Friday (October 11, 2019). Nigeria will confront the Brazilians by 1:00pm (Nigerian time) on Sunday, October 13, 2019.
