Enugu Rangers, the country’s remaining representative in Africa’s premier club competition, were ousted from the competition by Recreativo Libolo of Angola on Saturday.
Recreativo beat Rangers 3-1 on the day and 3-1 on aggregate after the first leg had ended goalless.
Senegal’s Henri Camara and Dario Cardoso gave Libolo a two-goal advantage at half-time. Sunday Mba, playing his first game for Rangers since the transfer saga, scored after the break to raise hopes of a Rangers win on away goals rule. Cardoso then converted a late penalty to break Nigerian hearts and take Libolo into the group phase.
