Entries Still Open For Union Bank’s 2019 Edtech Challenge

In a bid to promote and encourage the use of technology in a world dominated by the tech ecosystem, Union Bank presents the 2019 EdTech Challenge which is currently open for entries.

Students, teachers, developers, fintechs, and players in the tech space are encouraged to utilize this opportunity which is specially designed for innovative minds with technologically-driven solutions to solve some of the problems affecting education at all levels in Nigeria. Entries for the Challenge opened July 30, 2019 and will end on August 28, 2019.

The program is open to people with cutting-edge technological solutions that have strong potentials capable of transforming the education system in Nigeria. The Challenge is not limited to anyone though tech companies, fintechs, students, and developers are some of the target groups for the technological challenge. This year marks the third edition of the annual Innovation Challenge series, which is aimed at discovering, showcasing, and supporting cutting-edge technological inventions by Nigerians which has the capability to make significant impact towards reforming Nigeria’s education system.

Union Bank acknowledges the importance of innovation in Nigeria’s plans for becoming a prosperous nation. This year, Union Bank partners with VHA Services to organize the program which has its major focus as unearthing education technology solutions with emphasis on the bank’s unending support for the Nigerian education sector. Apart from issues pertaining to education, the challenge equally aims to solve business and social problems confronting Nigeria, willing applicants are advised to make innovations that cover a wide scope.

At the close of the entry period slated for August 28, 2019, up to 10 entries which are jointly selected by members of the jury will be shortlisted and unveiled to the public. Applicants will be related information pertaining the status of their application through email and/or SMS notifications. Entries that make it to the top 10 successful will be invited and admitted into an eight weeks acceleration program where they will be permitted access to Coach-Mentors, Capacity Building, a Community of Education stakeholders and strategic partnerships. Additionally, successful participants are sure of gaining access to Union Bank’s network of customers and platforms to provide global visibility for scale.

The final stage of the challenge will see three winners emerge in October 2019 following a pitch. The top 3 will be announced during edu360, Union Bank’s annual flagship educational event which is scheduled to hold by October, 2019. Winners will receive 5 million naira in total funding support to assist in scaling their solutions, venture support comprising of specialized support based on participant’s project needs is assured for applicants who find themselves in the top-three. Advisory, concerning the deployment and management of fund received, will also be received by participants who make it to the final three.
