Last week,
Enough is Enough Nigeria, an organisation promoting good governance and public accountability in Nigeria, had its fundraising dinner tagged
Light a Candle. It was an evening of Fun, Music, Auctions & Honours.
Light A Candle
The event which had Lala Akindoju and Richard Osuji as comperes. featured brilliant performances of “
E be like say” by
2Baba, “
Great Nation” by
Timi Dakolo which was greeted with a standing ovation, and “
Fun Mi Lowo Mi” Aramide reminding everyone of the reason for the event.
The event showcased the success of the organisation in promoting good governance and public accountability in Nigeria, but the highlight for us was the presentation of awards to Nigerian music practitioners who have supported EiE’s effort over the years. The three entertainers who were honoured at the Sunday evening event were
2Baba, Timi Dakolo and
Banky W. The three artistes have been very vocal in their call for good governance and participation of Nigerian citizens, especially the youth in government.
Other important personalities in attendance at the event include Aliko Dangote, Kelechi Amadi-Obi, Oby Ezekwesili, Tunde Bakare, Lanre Olusola, Leke Alder, Sam and Nike Adeyemi, Ibukun Awosika, Banke Meshida-Lawal, Jumoke Adenowo, Aisha Oyebode and Mai Atafo.
Funds realized at the ‘Light a Candle’ fundraiser will be used push campaigns aimed at increasing voters’ education and awareness ahead of the elections in
2019 general elections.
