Super Eagles defender, Azubuike Egwuekwe has announced that his proposed move to Israeli club, Hapoel Tel Aviv has hit the rocks.
The lanky defender had been reported to have signed a deal with the club after the club announced the capture of his signature on its official website.
However, the Warri Wolves captain rejected the move because of a meagre wage package offered by the club, according to AfricanFootball.com
Although Egwuekwe refused to reveal the figures in the contract, rumours circulating suggest he was offered $5,000 a month deal by Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Egwuekwe has since returned to his club side, Warri Wolves in Nigeria but refused to rule out a move to Europe in the near future.
“I didn’t sign for Hapoel Tel Aviv, I rejected the offer because the money they wanted to pay me was small. I am back in Nigeria,” Egwuekwe said.
“I am back now and can’t say yet if I will play for Wolves now till summer or not.”
