Efe Ambrose Open To Scotland Return

Sky Sports

Former Celtic of Scotland defender, Efe Ambrose, has expressed his willingness to return to the Scottish league.

Ambrose, who played for Hibernian in the past, is on the lookout for a new club after his departure from Sky Bet Championship club, Derby County, at the end of the 2018/2019 season. A lot of lucrative offers for the tall Nigerian defender have been turned down by him owing to the fact that they are not the right option for him and his family. However, the 2013 AFCON winner with the Super Eagles has revealed that a return to Scotland is appealing and could tempt him.

I would never say never about the possibility of coming back to Scottish football. It is a great place to play football and I feel the Scottish league is growing and getting better.

The standing and reputation of the league is growing and there is a real profile to it with the likes of Neil Lennon and Steven Gerrard now at Celtic and Rangers. I have had some great times in Scotland. My times there, with Celtic and Hibs, were amongst the best of my career and if there was interest there, then it is something I would definitely consider.

Efe Ambrose

It will be recalled that Efe Ambrose was an integral part of the 2013 AFCON winning Super Eagles team in South Africa. He is currently in Nigeria and has been keeping fit through playing for his local side, Narayi Celtic Kaduna, ahead of a new deal in no distant time.

I have been training every day with my local team back in Nigeria and playing in friendly games…So when I get my next move sorted, I will be ready to hit the ground running and [will] be able to get up to speed very quickly.
