Mobile banking has gained much traction in Nigeria and it has generally improved the banking experience of Nigerians as regards payments, fund transfers and other transactions.
Ecobank recently announced their mobile app at a big event that held in Lagos which was well attended by Ecobank customers, staff and business professionals. The new mobile banking app is available in 33 African countries and comes with unique features. For starters, intending customers can now open an Ecobank digital account using the mobile app, and the process requires no paperwork. You can also send and receive money across the 33 countries that the app will be available in.
Speaking at the product launch, Group CEO, Ade Ayeyemi remarked that “The Ecobank Mobile App opens up opportunities for customers by allowing them to shop, transact and do business without cash.” Ecobank also partnered with Visa and MasterCard to bring its customers a unique experience.
Entrepreneurs can also take advantage of the Ecobank Masterpass QR technology to receive money from customers or clients. The mobile app also offers users the opportunity to deposit money through mobile transfer – a new technology that is not available on other mobile banking platforms.
Ecobank Nigeria’s Managing Director, Charles Kié, acknowledged Nigeria as the locus of entrepreneurship and technology for Ecobank, and he commented that the new product will help to grow businesses by giving them a convenient and secure way of banking.
The app is currently available for Android and iOS.
