The government has urged Christians to pray for the country during celebrations.
As Christians continue with preparations for Easter celebrations, the Federal Government has declared Friday, April 15 and Monday, April 18, 2022, as public holidays. This information was contained in an official statement on behalf of the government by the Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Shuaib Belgore.
In the statement, Aregbesola called on Nigerian Christians to emulate the ministry of Jesus Christ during his time on earth with attributes such as love, peace, forgiveness, togetherness, sacrifice, kindness, and patience. The minister urged Christians and all Nigerians to pray against the insecurity challenges confronting the country during celebrations and assured citizens that the government was doing everything possible to end insurgency and all forms of insecurity in the country.

“Security is everybody’s business. I, therefore, urge Nigerians and foreigners resident in our country to display a high sense of citizenship and public-spiritedness at this critical time in the history of our country, by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security to lives and property of the citizenry,”the statement read.

“While wishing Christians at home and in the Diaspora a happy and peaceful Easter celebration, we also call on Nigerians to join hands with the President, Major General, Muhammadu Buhari (retd) led regime in its determination to bring sustainable development and usher in prosperity for all.”
