Eaglets’ Win Over Uruguay Brings Team Closer to U-17 World Title

Two strikes from Taiwo Awoniyi has helped the Nigerian Golden Eaglets secure a berth in the semi final of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Awoniyi’s first goal came in the 17th minute of the first half with help from Kelechi Iheanacho. Much to the chagrin of the Uruguayans who tried desperately to equalize for the entire first half and the second half with futility, Awoniyi again sent a kick to the opponents’ net for the second goal in the 79th minute. With the win, the Eaglets have earned a spot in the semi finals against a Swedish side whom they battled to a 3-3 draw earlier in the tournament.
