A pancake is a flat cake, often thin and round, prepared from starch-based batter.
Pancakes may be served at any time of the day with a variety of toppings or fillings including jam, syrup, chocolate or even meat. It is most times considered as a great breakfast food option. Pancake is a fun loving dish which can be enjoyed by all, either children or adults.
Making pancake mix
Ingredients
1 and a half cups of all purpose flour.
2 teaspoons of baking powder
2 tablespoons of sugar
Half teaspoon of salt
Half teaspoon of baking soda
1 and a half cup of milk or 1 and a quarter
2 eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla or any other flavouring (this is optional)
2 tablespoon of vegetable oil
Directions
In a bowl, mix all the
dry ingredients together
Make a hole in the centre and pour the
milk in
Start by putting one and a quarter milk, adding up to another quarter of a cup (if needed), as you mix it with the flour.
Add the
eggs, flavouring (if needed) and
oil, whisking until mixed but a little bit lumpy.
Why not try making your own batter?
Use a non-stick pan preferably. If you are using a normal pan, melt butter or use oil. Add it into the pan in little portions, and have some fun with various fillings.
