Kehinde Babatunde Victor Oladipo was born on May 4, 1992 in Silver Spring, Maryland to Christopher Oladipo and Joan Amaze Oladipo. Oladipo is an American professional basketball player for the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He started his career first as a high school basketball player for DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Maryland. Though Oladipo was not the best in his team he worked hard and that was what stood him out as he grew older. In college, he was drafted into the Indiana Hoosiers where he was named the Sporting News Men’s College Basketball Player of the Year, the National Co-Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-American by the USBWA and Sporting News. Oladipo was in the same year named the winner of the Adolph Rupp Trophy, given annually to top players in men’s NCAA Division 1 basketball.

Oladipo’s Career

Oladipo started off his professional playing career in 2013 when he was drafted into the NBA in the second overall pick by Orlando Magic, when he was named NBA ALL-Rookie First team. In 2013 the rookie class of the NBA voted Oladipo as the best defender, the co-favorite 2013-2014 rookie of the year, the c0-favorite to have best career and the second most athletic rookie. The 2013-2014 playing season saw Oladipo rise to the occasion on every match. On December 3, Oladipo recorded his first career cripple-double with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a double overtime loss to Philadelphia 76ers. On February 21, 2014, Oladipo recorded a career high 14 assist with 30 points, 9 rebounds and 1 steal in a 129-121 double overtime win against the New York Knicks. Nice then, Oladipo has played for Oklahoma City Thunder 2016-2017) and is currently on the books for Indiana Pacers (2017-present). Oladipo joined the Pacers on trade on July 6, 2017 alongside Domantas Sabonis in exchange for Paul George. Oladipo made an impressive debut for the Pacers in their season opener where he had 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assists in a 140-131 win over the Brooklyn Nets. One week later, Oladipo proved his former team that trading him was a big mistake when he scored a game-high 35 points on II for 18 shooting in a 114-96 loss to his Oklahoma City Thunder. In Game 1 pf the Pacer’s first round playoff series against the Cavaliers, Oladipo scored 32 points in a 98-80 win to become the fourth player in Pacers history with at least 30 points and six 3-pointers in a post-season game. In Game 6, Oladipo recorded his first career post-season cripple-double with 28 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in a 121-87 win to push the Pacers to a Game 7 meet. However, the Pacers were forced to bow out after a Lebron James led Cleveland Cavaliers very closely defeated the Indiana Pacers 105-101. Oladipo 30 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals was to enough to stop the game’s best player Lebron who made 45 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals and got some well needed help to keep his side unbeaten.

Oladipo’s father, Christopher Oladipo is a native of Sierra Leone and a public health executive for Prince George’s County, Maryland with a PhD in behavioral science from the University of Maryland, College Park.
