In recent times, Nigerians have found Canada a befitting study destination.
On Saturday, May 28, 2022, a group of nine Nigerians made Nigeria proud after graduating from the high-profile University of Calgary Law School, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
The nine Nigerians made up the entire class of Master Law students of the Canadian academic institution, a great proof that the Nigerians in the Diaspora community are out to flag the country’s flag high.
The Dean of the University of Calgary Law School Lan Holloway described the achievement as “cool and highly commendable.’’
“We have all nine students graduating with their Master of Law degrees today. All are Nigerians!.”
Holloway said.
The names of the students have been disclosed. They are Oluchi Jennifer, Ifedayo Isaac, Ola Eke-Okoro, Olashegu Olayinka, Toritsemofe Mene, Ifeoluwa Tolulope, Emmanuelle Odum, Olaitan Adeniyi, and Maryam Lawal.
In recent years, Nigerians have trooped to Canada for study. Information from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) reveals that the number of Nigerians studying in Canada, one of the globe’s developed economies, hit a record 13,745 as of December 31, 2021.
Further, data from the IRCC also shows that the percentage of study permits for Nigerians in Canada increased by 30.3 per cent, a significant rise to 13,745 compared to 10,550 in 2020. These figures have made Nigeria the ninth most popular source country for international students in Canada.
