- Approval has been given for the commencement of flight operations under VFR Conditions at Osubi Airport (also known as Warri Airport) in Okpe LGA, Delta State. VFR conditions are a set of regulations that basically instructs a pilot to fly an aircraft under clear weather conditions. The appeal for the reopening was made by a member of the House of representatives on the 24th of February 2021 and the approval came by a tweet from the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika on the 1st of March 2021. United Nigeria Airlines and Air Peace have agreed to commence operations from Osubi once it is officially opened. So if you live in Warri and its environs, get ready to start enjoying flights from home.
- Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has launched an e- temporary passport for a one-way trip to Nigeria for emergencies on the 9th of March 2021. It will be issued at the Nigerian Embassies/High Commissions outside the country to Nigerians in Diaspora who want to come home but whose national passport is unavailable. It now replaces the need for an emergency travel certificate (ETC) and it is an enhancement of the current Electronic Passport Management System (EPMS).
- You now need to get a PCR test 96 hours before your flight to provide a negative COVID result. The 96 hours start counting from your point of departure before arriving in Nigeria.
- The Nigerian International Travel Portal (NITP) is used for uploading your negative COVID test results before coming into Nigeria. Diplomats and children below 10 years old are not required to get a COVID Test. But they still need to register on the Nigerian International Travel Portal (NITP). If you are leaving Nigeria, you only need to show the Nigerian airport officials.

- Visa on Arrival has been officially abolished in Kenya by a new visa policy that was implemented on the 1st of January 2021. The issuance of a visa is now automated and anyone from a country that requires a visa to enter Kenya has to apply and obtain an e-visa before boarding an aircraft. Kenya e-visa is now a mandatory entry requirement for all visitors to Kenya. Nigerians going to Kenya should take note.
- Other Countries requiring e-visas for Nigerians travelling with their Nigerian Passport in 2021: Cambodia, Djibouti, Gabon, Iran, Lesotho, Madagascar, and Qatar (online tourist visa).
- Countries requiring Visa On Arrival if you want to travel with your Nigerian Passport in 2021: Comoros, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Maldives, Mauritania, Mauritius, Palau, Rwanda, Uganda and Vanuatu.
- Visa-free countries your Nigerian Passport can take you to in 2021: Barbados, Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Chad (if you live in Nigeria), Dominica republic, Fiji, Ivory Coast, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Haiti, Liberia, Mali, Micronesia, Niger, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone and Togo.
- KLM airline requires COVID result from passengers before boarding. If you are boarding a flight like Delta airlines that is partially operated by KLM (codesharing), ensure you get your proof of COVID testing 72 hours before boarding your flight online, even if you are only transiting through the Netherlands.
- All those whose visa application was denied after January 20th 2020 because of President Donald Trump’s Travel Ban can now request for reconsideration without resubmitting their applications and without extra charges (i.e. free of charge).
