I’ve always loved groundnuts. As a child, I ate it with reckless abandon. As a teenager who battled with pimples and blackheads, I ate it cautiously at first. But the people around me at that time would not allow me to enjoy it in peace. They believed that eating groundnuts was the major cause of pimples and blackhead. So every time they caught me eating this well loved snack, they made it seem like I didn’t want to help myself.

After a while, I decided to abstain from groundnuts and I managed to do it for six months. When my problem did not disappear, I jejeli went back to my snack. I’ve been eating groundnut since then. I’m an adult now and I no longer have a face full of pimples; that which came with puberty has gone with puberty. Today, we’ll be discussing 7 foods that can be made from groundnuts. I’m sure that some of the foods on this list are known to you while others are not. Please, feel free to experiment with the new foods on this list.

Peanut Burger

This special snack is made by coating peanuts in flour and eggs before frying. Peanut burger is loved by adults and children alike. Who can blame them? The taste is heavenly. It is prepared with roasted groundnuts. So, you can just buy already roasted groundnuts. But if you prefer, you can buy raw ones then roast them yourself before use.

Groundnut Milk

This non-dairy beverage is everything good. Groundnut milk has a creamy nuttiness that’s distinctive. You’ll enjoy drinking this milk alone. You can also use it in other meals that call for milk. Groundnut milk is not only high in protein, it’s gluten free and grain free as well. It is best prepared at home.

Peanut Butter and Banana Smoothie

If you’re looking for a healthy way to start your day, people, this is it. I don’t have to tell you that the groundnut and banana combo is a match made in foodie heaven. All of creation knows that. But here’s something you probably don’t know. This peanut butter and banana smoothie has the right protein and carbohydrate balance that will keep hunger at bay. So, what are you waiting for? Ose Oji

This spicy peanut butter dip features prominently in traditional ceremonies in Igboland. It is usually served as an accompaniment to garden egg. I can tell you for free that they marry well. I, for one, can eat a bucketful of garden eggs if there’s enough ose oji to go with it. In case you don’t know, ose oji is made by blending roasted peanut with dry pepper and other aromatic Nigerian spices.

Groundnut Soup

This delicious Nigerian soup is made with groundnut. Groundnut soup is widely consumed in Southern and Northern Nigeria. As expected, the mode of preparation differs from place to place. It can be prepared with or without vegetables, and can have a thick or thin consistency.

Kunu Gyada

This thin, free flowing gruel is a staple in Northern Nigeria. In that part of the country, it is considered a great weaning food for babies. Kunu gyada is made by combining groundnut with such cereals as rice, maize, millet. This porridge has a sweet and slightly sour taste. It can either be enjoyed on its own or served with savoury snacks like kosai.

Kuli Kuli

My childhood memories will be incomplete without this snack. Kuli kuli was our comfort food. We made countless trips to Mama Dan’s kiosk to buy it.
