The first African country to qualify for the FIFA World Cup was Egyptin 1934, four years after the first World Cup edition.
It was not until 1978 that an African team, Tunisia won the FIFA World Cup beating Mexico 3-1 to return Africa to its pride place after the continent suffered a long period of absence from the World Cup.
