COPA 2017 Slated for December 8th in Lagos

The 2017 annual global  beach soccer tournament organised by Kinetic Sports  is slated to begin from December 8th through 10th at the Eko Atlantic City in Lagos, where the Super Sands Eagles of Nigeria will battle Holland and Lebanon for the 2017 COPA Lagos title. Since the debut of the maiden edition of the tournament in 2011 as the first ever international beach soccer event in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa, COPA Lagos has evovlved into a mainstream entertainment event in the world, and also a means to boost tourism turnovers for the nation. According to Kinetic Sports; similar to previous editions, this year’s will also feature a combination of sport, music, fashion and celebrity entertainment that is scheduled to run into the night. The sports category of the event will entail a club challenge that will involve the Pepsi Football Academy and a selected Lagos Beach Soccer team. Also, celebrity matches between ex- internationals, popular Nigerian celebrities (male amd female category) match up will take place. Managing Director, Kinetic Sports, Mr. Samson Adamu, had this to say about the upcoming event. “This year’s edition is back to its normal three days of Soccer, Fashion, Music, business and networking opportunities and fun. “Furthermore the plan is to make Copa Lagos more than just a beach soccer event but to be a major spectacle that will put Nigeria on the global tourism space and promote a beach culture and lifestyle in Lagos and Nigeria at large. He also thanked sponsors; FCMB, Pepsi, Hero and Wakanow for their unwavering support over the years in making Copa Lagos, the premier beach soccer event in Africa and one of the best in the World. A lot of other thrilling activities have been lined up following the event, some of which include: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) event, tagged “Clean the Beach”, which is aimed at protecting the beach and all marine life forms around it. Next is a training and mentorship programme for kids aimed at promoting and Beach Soccer to the younger folk.
