The transition from Paper-Pencil Test (PPT) to Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) annual examination in Nigeria, has been seamless since its introduction in 2012. The board has, in recent years, been able to cut back on a number of lapses that plagued the traditional  paper pencil examination methods. Many of which have been reduced to the barest minimum including examination malpractice, and issues of missing scripts. Alongside these improvements, time of release of results have been drastically cut short to a maximum of 72 hours — a far better alternative to what the PPT methods offered. Riding on the back of their success with the incorporation of the CBT system, JAMB has continued to improve the quality and delivery of its computer-based examinations, adding more up-to-the-minute facilities to its already vast number of CBT centres. In November 2018, the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, announced the decision of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), to approve the downward review of the JAMB examination registration fees from ₦5,000 to ₦3,500 effective from January 2019. This move, according to the minister, is part of the plans of the federal government to reduce the cost of education for the average Nigerian. This is the first time sales of JAMB forms will begin in the same year of the examinations. And as candidates prepare to register for this year’s exercise, here’s a list of JAMB accredited computer based centres across the country: Click here to view list of centres.   Featured image source: kogireports.com
