“We had confidence in INEC’s process since it had been used successfully in several elections. We trusted that INEC would leverage the technology during the Presidential elections, but we were shocked to find out that the polling units weren’t transmitted directly to INEC. They provided weak excuses about internet servers,”Nwoye stated. He further emphasized that during the Presidential elections, people who attempted to challenge suspicions of results manipulation lacked sufficient evidence, with any that emerged being poorly coordinated. As a result, the founders created Collate Africa, a platform with transparency as its guiding principle.

According to Nwoye, the objective of Collate Africa is to establish a comprehensive and centralized database of all polling units in Nigeria across all states. To accomplish this goal, the platform requires at least one registered voter from each of the country’s 176,876 polling units to pre-register on www.collate.africa/register before the gubernatorial elections on March 18, 2023. Based on the information displayed on the Collate Africa website, users must provide details about their state, local government area, ward, and polling unit. On election day, voters can use the platform to upload real-time election results.
