The Cleanup Nigeria Project is the brainchild of two Non-Governmental Organisations dedicated to environmental hygiene, Passion House and Recycle Points.
In accordance with the Seventh Millennium Development Goal, the initiative seeks to ensure environmental sustainability in Nigeria through local waste management, recycling and land sanitation. Its activities include the cleanup of dirty gutters, drainages and land masses along with the sensitization of individuals on the importance of a clean environment.
The project aims to promote good health in Nigerian communities in the process, reducing the prevalence of common illnesses such as malaria, typhoid and cholera through the removal of parasite breeding sites.
Project Development and Administration Manager, Ndidiamaka Okafor heads the three-man management team in charge of this noble cause.
For its new project, ‘Clean Up Ketu’, the team wants to mobilize five hundred volunteers to clean up Ketu environs on Saturday 14th March 2015.
This project provides a platform for interested citizens and corporations interested in exercising social responsibility towards securing a clean Nigeria, one community at a time.
