Multinational business magazine Fortune has published its list of people it reckons to be the world’s greatest leaders at the moment. As expected, the annual list has a host of well-known names on it. One of them is Nigeria’s Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
Fortune placed Chimamanda at number 42 on its list. According to them, the novelist deserved a spot on it because of the way in which she has “challenged her audience to think differently and more expansively about Africa, identity, race, and gender”. The list’s composers referred to her award-winning prose and her TED talks which have been viewed and discussed by many across the globe. Chimamanda was also described as a “feminist icon, and a fearless political and cultural critic.”
Some of the notable names on the list include Pope Francis (who was ranked third), Melinda Gates (4), German Chancellor Angela Merkel (10), former US Vice-President Joe Biden (23), and businessmen Jack Ma (2), Jeff Bezos (5) and Elon Musk (30)
Fortune says its list of the world’s greatest leaders celebrates men and women in business, government, philanthropy and arts who have worked to build bridges between people, offer hope, and transform the world.
