Nigeria women’s national team goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has been named the best shot-stopper in Africa, and 16th best goalkeeper in the world by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).

Nnadozie – who played an instrumental role in helping Rivers Angels win the 2018/2019 Nigeria Women’s Professional League Super 4 tournament with outstanding displays, including a heroic two penalty saves against Bayelsa Queens in their 4-2 semi-final shootout victory – caught the eyes of the globe at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France earlier this year.

18-year-old Nnadozie featured in all but one of Nigeria’s matches at the World Cup. Her decent performance in the 2-0 victory over South Korea at the global tournament meant she became the youngest goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in the history of the Women’s World Cup. The Super Falcons first choice goalkeeper had an incredible year with the Falcons, winning the Africa Women’s Cup Of Nations and the 2019 WAFU Union Cup, before helping the best women football team in Africa reach the Round of 16 at the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
