This is to remind all our readers who haven’t registered for their BVN that the deadline for bank customers to register for their Bank Verification Number (BVN) is October 31, 2015.
The introduction of BVN, according to the CBN, is targeted at addressing cybercrime, ATM fraud and other kinds of financial frauds as well as to safeguard customers’ funds to avoid losses through Personal Identification Numbers (PIN).
Aside this, the BVN will also strengthen the current Know Your Customer (KYC) guidelines and allow banks to have more confidence in giving out loans. The BVN allows for the financial history of a customer to be stored at a central location and accessed by other banks who seek information about that customer.
The BVN is in our national best interest and bank customers without a BVN will not be allowed to perform bank transactions after the deadline, so we encourage all our readers to register TODAY!
