According to a ThisDay News report, President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Federal Ministry of Education to add two Islamic Studies books to the Nigerian secondary school curriculum for all Federal Government Colleges. Both publications were written by the Late Justice Muhammad Bashir Sambo.
This directive was reportedly given in Kaduna this past weekend during the launch of reviewed editions of the books first published in 1974.
The Islamic Studies for Secondary Schools was co-sponsored by the Bashir Sambo Centre for Islamic Da’awah and Jaiz Charity and Development Foundation in memory of Justice Sambo. He served as the country’s former Judge of Sharia Court of Appeal and the Code of Conduct Tribunal. Mallam Mukhtar Lere is also said to have reviewed the books to conform with the current 6-3-3-4 educational system in the country.
