Today, we are shining the spotlight on a highly educational and timely book by Michael D. Omisore. We were invited to
his awesome book launch which took place in April at Hall 2, Lagos State Television, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
At the event, we were first introduced to
Smart and Brilliant Writing For Senior Secondary School Students, a book created with secondary school students as his target readers. Michael writes this book, inspired by his personal experience of writing final-year English exams in secondary school. He even narrates the intense time he had in the exam hall during this time. You would be happy to know that he finished with a distinction grade in the subject.
In the book, students are taught comprehension, composition writing and vocabulary improvement tips that are guaranteed to help them become star English students like Michael was. It’s clear from the beginning of the book that the writer had his readers in mind, communicating with clarity and a friendly, youthful tone all through the book. He talks students through the available exercises which are easy to understand, highlighting key points for students to master in order to get better scores.
The publication itself (by EdiStyle Company) must be commended for being of high quality. Its thick paper-back cover, nice use of colour and very legible font make reading as a whole a pleasant experience. Who knows, English Language might have been much easier for some of us, if we had learnt it with this book.
