Blog of the Week: Musings of a Caramel Latte Addict
Joy Ehonwa
I doubt that the organisers of the Nigeria Blog Awards were surprised when earlier this year the popular vote for “Best Book, Poetry, or Writing Blog 2012” went to Musings of a Caramel Latte Addict. Run by Temi, “a young lady who loves to muse…maybe a bit too much…” the blog offers much more than books, poetry and writing. Indeed it’s not hard to see why readers love this blog. The very first post for the year 2012, “If You Call it Settling, Then Yes I Have Settled”, was built around a letter from a soon-to-be-married woman, which began thus:
“I’ll be getting married on the 3rd Saturday in May to a man I am not in love with.”
With an opening like that, who wouldn’t be hooked? Temi rounded up by stating,
“I’m not saying this writer is right and has selected wisely but Tayo clearly seems like a better choice than Bode. Many times, we ladies prioritise the wrong things. We place the cart before the horse. We look first for butterfly feelings and put that feeling of security, warmth and peace aside. We put God second and put feelings first. We dismiss a good guy for a fun guy. We dismiss the voice of wisdom, that small still voice telling us not to go ahead, or even to slow down. We damn the consequences and end up getting burnt. I pray God leads us and that we follow His leading. Amen.”
Readers definitely had their own opinions; the post garnered a whopping 404 comments!
Another letter came in from “TiredofbeingMissNice”, who had recently come across a book, “Why Men Love Bitches”. According to her, the book opened her eyes to why she had hitherto been unable to maintain a relationship. She then went on to list the 100 principles outlined in the book. Needless to say, many readers could identify with the pitfalls documented therein- including yours truly!
Musings of a Caramel Latte Addict features a lot of letters from people like the ones mentioned above- letters which Temi then proceeds to muse about. She also invites readers to share their thoughts, and the comments are almost as interesting as the posts, if not more sometimes.
When she’s not treating letters, Temi is musing about the Word of God, industry, business, fashion, excellent youths, friends and life in general.
