Blog of the Week: D Prodigal Daughter

Run by a self-described fun loving, God loving lady who is also a lawyer/attorney, D Prodigal Daughter is the “Life Story of a Child That Has Been Saved”; and what an inspiring story! D Prodigal Daughter features posts on various aspects of life and faith, from relationships, sex, and marriage, to love, prayer and forgiveness. In short, it’s the journey of a walk with God as told by a woman who has seen the light of God and is excited to talk to her readers about it. On April 23rd 2013, she posted, “I Think I’m Backsliding”, a post where she expressed to her readers her concerns about the state of her heart. In its final paragraph, her sincere plea for help read thus: “I don’t know. But I know I have a lot of questions in my heart, that I don’t have answers to. And the longer it takes me to communicate to God about it, the farther I feel I’m being drawn away from him. So you see, this is why I have not been writing (aside from the fact that school, work, and life has been really demanding on my time). I’m in a fix. A tight corner and I need to get out but I don’t know how. I am losing myself. So, I need help. Please help me ….. help me … Because I’m losing myself … I mean have you ever been in this situation? What did you do? How did you get out of it?” Three months later she returned with a new post, “I’m Back and Better”, where she confirmed that she had indeed been backsliding; “If you refer to my last post, you will see that I had a bit of struggle with certain things that were going on in my life. During that period, I said I thought I was backsliding, well, I pretty much did. It became a job to pick up my bible and pray, I was uncomfortable in the presence of God and every time I opened my mouth in praise, it was empty. It’s a dangerous thing when the devil has a strong hold of guilt and past sins on you, it takes the grace of God to get past it. It was a huge struggle for me I tell you.” It’s easy to see why this blog was chosen as Nigeria Blog Awards’ Best faith-based blog (Judges Choice) of 2012. Every believer can relate with her unpretentious, real and heartfelt posts from both the mountain and the valley experiences of the Christian walk. The blog also features a section on Relationships, and another called Song Meanings, dedicated to news about inspirational music, and lyric analysis. According to her, “…I was a victim of just singing songs without really knowing the depth from which the writer wrote the song. I know songs minister to each of us in different ways but until we understand the depth and source of a song, we will always be missing out on something extremely important. That is why I’ve created a new segment/page on this blog called “Song Meanings” Does your faith need strengthening? Do you need a reminder that you’re not alone? This blogger says, “I am a prodigal daughter because I have been to the other side and back. Through love, mercy and grace; I was restored. God is great and merciful and I’m here to share his love with you. The most important thing you should know about God is love and forgiveness.” Visit this blog; let iron sharpen iron!
