The Africa Table Tennis Federation has lauded the brilliant efforts of Nigeria ace table tennis player, Aruna Quadri, for breaking into the final 32 of the Men’s Singles at the 2019 ITTF World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

The President of the ATTF, Khaled El-Salhy, described Quadri as a continental hero for his sheer show of skill and consistent representation of Africa at international events.

The ATTF also praised Egypt’s Dina Meshref, for her brave efforts in the Women’s Singles at the championship, as well as her partnership with fellow countrywoman, Yousra Helmy, in the Women’s Doubles event.

Some African players did quite well especially Aruna Quadri (NGR) who was the last male player on track by reaching the round of 32, also Dina Meshref (EGY) who also made it to the round of 64 in singles while her doubles’ pairing with Yousra Helmy reached the last 32 of the event. I think they all tried their best and lost in some very tough matches.

The ATTF boss commended all African representatives at the championship, while also recognizing the herculean task the players were faced with at the games due to the calibre of teams who made it to the games such as China, Japan and Germany.

He, however, added that African players must focus on improving themselves and fight to advance in such competitions in order to improve their world ranking.
