Nigerian International soul singer Asa has released a new song after fans have waited for several years for the singer’s work.

Asa’s last album was the ‘Bed of Stones’ album released in August 2014 with the hit songs “Éyó” and ‘Dead Again”

Asa’s professional music career started after she attended the IMFP school of Jazz music in France, where she was told she already had all it took to be a recording artiste. She signed on to Naïve Records, was introduced to Cobhams Asuquo, and they set out to work on her debut self-titled album “Asa”. The album after release became her first platinum album, topping charts across Europe, Asia, and Africa and winning the French Constantine Award in Paris in 2008.

She has since then released 3 other albums with “Beautiful Imperfection” peaking at number 3 on the world music charts.

Following the success of ‘Bed of Stones’ not much had been heard of the dreadlocked songbird until Tuesday, 14th May when her new song ‘The Beginning’ was released online, with a stunning video.

Asa – The Beginning, Lyrics:

One of us must have a last say

Words like dagger we try to hurt each other

There’s no other way until one surrender

We’ve been like this for days

We’ve been like this for days

So when you said goodbye

With a smile on your face

I thought it was as usual

You’ll be gone just for a little while

I didn’t see it coming

Won’t believe If someone else told me

I’ve been waiting for years

I’ve been waiting for years

Even though we near

Like we far away

Far from far away

Can you hear me

Can you hear me

Can you hear me

Let’s go back to the beginning

None of us must have a last say

I’m writing you this letter

Hoping we can make things clearer

Over all the shouting

We forget to hear each other

And I missed for days

In so many ways

Even though we near

Like we far away

Far from far away

Can you hear me

Can you hear me

Can you hear me

Let’s go back to the beginning
