We are approximately 2months away from the end of the year, and as December draws closer several activities are expected to take place. There’ll be lots of fun and exciting festivities that would hold such as; grand events, cocktail parties to outstanding fashion week openings, everyone is sure to have somewhere to be. Here, we’ve put together events that the lovers of arts would be interested in.

The Muson Festival: October 18th – 29th
The Annual Muson Festival is the most prestigious celebration of music and visual arts in Nigeria. This year the 21
st Muson Festival of Arts 2017 will take off on the 18
th of October with Music quest/ Youth concert, a competition that provides a platform for self-expression for young artists with potentials.
Muson Festival aims at contributing largely to the national effort at discovering young talents, encouraging and nurturing them. There are three categories of Pianoforte, Voice, and other Instruments, displaying the best of performing and instrumental arts. Asides from being a competition for fantastic prizes, it is also a concert of very interesting musical selections. The Music Quest is partly sponsored by Stanbic IBTC. The festival will round up on Sunday 29
th October with a riveting performance of the Opera: La Fille du Regiment by Donizetti, directed by Nigeria’s ace Opera Singer, Teacher, and Director, Joseph Oparamanuike.
International festival of contemporary dance (IFCOD): October 21-23
This festival is aimed at developing a hub where resources from performing arts students, youths, theatre practitioners, arts sponsors, investors, and other creative enthusiasts are harmonized. IFCOD is also focused on the thought of building effective collaboration and partnerships with individuals, organizations, agencies, and stakeholders in order to achieve shared goals, and committed to creating a career path for the Nigerian youth and network opportunities for effective training in the performing arts. The event is scheduled to take place at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, time is 6 pm daily. The event lasts for three days and includes IFCOD Musical Production on day one, University TV Competition Grand Finale on day two and the Mater Class on day three. Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW): October 25-28
Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW) is an annual multi-day fashion event platform aimed at showcasing the African fashion industry by Nigerian designers. The platform brings together buyers, consumers, and the media from all over to view trendy designs thereby bringing Nigerian creativity to the rest of the world using fashion as a means to boost Nigerian economy. The event is set to take place at the Federal Palace on October 25-28.
The Ake Book and Arts Festival 2017
Ake festival brings together Novelists, poets, dancers, actors, illustrators, activists, musicians and artists to share their work and their ideas. Held at Abeokuta, the festival is five days of cultural immersion. The fifth edition of Ake Arts and Book Festival will take place at the Arts and Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta on 14-18 November 2017.
Lagos International Poetry Festival
The 2017 Lagos International Poetry Festival is themed “Bridges From Walls.” The event will bring together 30 poets, writers, and artists from around the world, in a feast of conversations, performances, and parties, from 1-5 November. Among this year’s guests are Chris Abani and South African poet, Koleka Putuma.
