After a very disappointing 4-2 FA Cup loss to Nottingham Forest, it was revealed by a British newspaper, The Sun, that Iwobi had spent the night before the match at a party.
The Super Eagles’ man was pictured and filmed dancing at a house party after 2.30am on Saturday before the Gunners were drummed out by Nottingham Forest, thanks to goals by Eric Lichaj who scored a brace, and second-half penalties by Ben Brereton and Kieran Dowell.
Arsene Wenger has issued midfielder Alex Iwobi a warning, stating that he will be severely fined if rumors that he was partying the night before Arsenal’s FA Cup loss to Nottingham Forest are true.
Wenger added that it is very demeaning for any of Arsenal’s stars to behave in such an inappropriate manner and that if the allegations against Iwobi are true, he will not hold back.
“If that is true he will be fined. It’s unacceptable,” Wenger told reporters on Tuesday.
“I will have to see him and see if that is right or not. If he was at a birthday party, how long has he stayed? That is very important. After that, I will decide what happens.” He continued.
“If your neighbor takes drugs, what can you do about it? You are responsible for your behavior. You must have played football, you want to prepare 100% but sometimes it is not a guarantee that you will be at your best.
“But that is what is requested from a top professional.” He added.
Arsenal managed to hold their own against counterparts Chelsea in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday that ended in a 0:0 stalemate.
Arsenal will host the second leg of the Carabao Cup on January 24th.
