The British Academy International Fellowship is designed to “attract and retain emerging talent in the UK and build a globally connected, mobile research and innovation workforce.”
The main objectives of the program include:
Attracting international early-career researchers to the United Kingdom to establish and conduct their research.- Promoting and supporting early-career researchers towards pursuing innovative and high-quality research.
- Providing opportunities for early-career researchers to acquire and transfer new skills and knowledge gained from the program through training and career development.
- It is a platform aimed at promoting and fostering long-term relationships through networking opportunities and the International Fellowship alumni program.

To be considered eligible for the program:
- The applicant must currently hold a PhD or be in the final stages of their PhD, which should end before the commencement of the fellowship.
- The applicant should not have more than seven years of postdoctoral experience at the time of application (discounting career breaks but including teaching experience and/or time spent in industry).
- You must be working outside the United Kingdom.
- You must not hold UK citizenship.
- The applicant must be excellent in oral and written English.
- Your research proposal must be clearly defined and mutually beneficial upon terms agreed with a UK host researcher.
Some of the benefits of the program include:
- It offers two-year support, and the award is at 80% FEC.
- Applicants are opportune to apply for a research fund of up to £12,000 and relocation costs of up to £8,000.

The application documents include:
- A two-page CV, including the dates on which you had your PhD viva and on which you were awarded the PhD.
- A list of publications (not exceeding one side).
- A completed internal selection form.
- The name and contact details of one referee, preferably based in the UK, who is not your mentor or PhD supervisor.
