Applications Open For The NIMASA 2022 World Maritime Day Essay Competition For Nigerian Undergraduates

  The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) are currently accepting entries for its World Maritime Day Essay Competition. The competition, which is open to Nigerian undergraduates, will see participants write and submit essays about the Nigerian and global maritime sector, for a chance to win prizes and gain wide recognition.

NIMASA is organizing this essay competition in commemoration of World Maritime Day, which is themed ‘Sustainable Shipping for a Sustainable Planet.’ It is designed to spark the interest of young Nigerians in the maritime sector, and make them aware of the many opportunities that exist within it. Prizes received for the competition’s top essays will depend on what rank they achieve. There will be prizes for the top three participants, as well as consolation awards for the next seven entries. World Maritime Day is marked and celebrated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and its member states across the world. NIMASA is a government agency that regulates Nigerian shipping, maritime labour, and the country’s coastal waters. It also carries out inspections and provides search and rescue services.

Eligibility

NIMASA expects persons who enter this competition to meet these conditions: Note: Plagiarized essays will not be accepted. Persons who meet these conditions should email their essay and other specified documents to wmdessay@nimasa.gov.ng and mail@samuelson.com.ng. Winners will be notified within the two weeks following the deadline for entries. Prizes and awards will be presented at a date that will be announced soon.
