Applications Ongoing For The AIG-Imoukhuede Foundation 2022 Public Leaders Program

The African Initiative for Governance is currently receiving applications from Africans working in their countries’ public sector for its 2022 Public Leaders Program. If you are a senior public servant, here’s an opportunity for you to build the capacity to become more effective in your role, and acquire knowledge and skills that could enable you to drive transformation at your organization.

The Public Leaders Program offers senior public servants and executive education experience which will strengthen the skills they need to instil a culture of effectiveness, integrity and excellence in the institutions they lead. The organizers intend that the program will help its participants with the tools they require to push for improved governance and positive development in their countries. This program is made possible by the African Initiative for Governance, in collaboration with the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government. This year’s edition will see the AIG-Imoukhuede Foundation award scholarships to a hundred African public servants to take part in the program.

Benefits

Senior public servants who are moving into senior leadership positions in the next three to seven years are encouraged to apply. If selected, they could benefit from the program in the following ways:

Get exposed to concepts and tools they need to steer the institutions they lead towards positive transformation so that they are able to meet the challenges of a constantly changing world
Gain insights from some of the world’s leading experts in governance, and learn from the experiences shared by their co-participants
Master skills that will enable them to stay relevant in a dynamic organizational environment
Help them with the tools they need to drive positive development in their countries through better governance and policymaking

Eligibility

Applicants are expected to meet these criteria:

Be nationals of an African state currently working in the public sector of an African country.
Must have worked at least seven years in the public sector.
Must be currently working at the directorate level or its equivalent.
Must show evidence that they possess transformative leadership qualities.
Should provide a record of promotion within the Ministry, Department or Agency in which they work, especially for the past five years.
Submit a letter of endorsement from the Ministry, Department or Agency (MDA) in which they work; this letter should come with the MDA’s letterhead, affirm that the candidate is qualified to attend the program, and confirm that the applicant will be allowed to take part in all of the program’s activities if they are shortlisted.
