Apple Set To Announce New iPhones On September 12TH
2017 has been big on mobile phone innovations – Samsung and the infinity display, dual camera setups, Iris scanning, facial recognition and so on. But we all know the year is not over until we’ve seen the new iPhone. It’s also a big year for Apple as they will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. The first iPhone was launched on June 29th, 2007 and it’s been a 10-year journey for Apple. This year’s iPhone event is scheduled for the 12th of September, 2017, exactly 5 years since the iPhone 5 was announced in 2012. Apple is said to be releasing the updated iPhone 7S and 7S Plus alongside the flagship device, the iPhone 8 or iPhone X or iPhone Anniversary Edition. No one is sure what nomenclature Apple will be using this year. Apple is also said to have done away with the home button on the iPhone 8, hence, the phone’s display covers most of the front panel, leaving a little space at the top for the front facing camera, 3D facial recognition sensor and an infrared sensor. The display is a curved, edge-to-edge OLED unit with True Tone technology. The home button will be virtual, probably similar to what we have on the Samsung Galaxy S8. The premium iPhone 8 may start around $1,000. The outrageous price is probably due to the 3D facial recognition technology, and the bigger OLED display unit which is quite expensive to make. In addition to the iconic iPhone 8, we also expect to see other products like the Apple Watch 3 and a new 4K Apple TV.
