App Of The Week: Jobberman.com

website we love
Unemployment ranks as the next biggest epidemic facing Africa after poverty. One of the major aggravations of Unemployment in Africa is the disorganized job market. In a bid to tackle this problem, three ambitious university students came up with Jobberman, a portal that matches unemployed people with their dream jobs. Today, Jobberman is a Pan-African online job search engine that provides millions of people with the convenience to source for jobs

How It All Started

The Jobberman idea was influenced by naukri.com – India’s biggest job search engine. While studying at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ayodeji Adewunmi, Lekan Olude, and Ope Awoyemi began cooking up ideas on how to solve the problem of unemployment in Nigeria. Having realized the potentials possible with the internet, the three friends decided to found an employment website. Their genius plan was simple: change the way people searched for and found jobs and provide employers with the right channel to advertise job vacancies and to find eligible candidates to fill them. In short, their plan was to kill two birds with one stone by bridging the gap between employers and employees. Nothing like this had ever existed at the time they hatched this idea so it was a game of uncertainty for the three musketeers of Jobberman.  However, they would end up building Nigeria’s largest job search engine which currently has over 1.5 million users and 30,000 employees.
