App of the Day: Vine

Vine is a video sharing service by Twitter, that allows you to create short videos (5-6secs)  to share on the internet. Videos can be based on anything; comedy, news a clip of your favourite exercise routine, or a few seconds of football action. The Vine App is available on both Android and iOS, which makes on-the-go videos easier to make. Once you log in to the Vine website, you can create motion videos easily by using the in-app camera on the Vine website. The camera works when the screen is touched, so you can create special motion effects or create more than one scene in a Vine video. Videos created on the Vine social networking website are called Vines. Once you have recorded a Vine, you can edit it before posting it onto the Vine website, or other social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. There is also a feature to see the most trending or viral Vines and to ‘revine’ on your personal timeline. You can also browse through videos according to theme, to select only the type of videos that are of interest to you. Users can also revine other people’s vines or protect their vines so that it cannot be copied. There is a loop count feature for vines that works like the ‘like’ feature, or the ‘view’ feature on other websites. The loop feature shows how many times a vine has been viewed. Vines are more fun mostly due to the fact that they are short clip videos. Rather than make a lengthy video to edit, you can simply make short clips to capture the essence of an event. Vines are suitable for just about any motion activities. Record your baby’s first steps, debut a song, make a tutorial on anything, or capture a piece of an event in real time.
