We are in the last week of the first-half of 2012 and the different mobile phone platforms have been jostling to impress their consumers. I have taken the time to give a report on how the major players in this industry have fared.
ANDRIOD: After six months I can tell you that this platform is doing very well in the mobile world. It has moved from one milestone to another. First, it was their Android OS 4.0(Ice Cream Sandwich) that became popular during the first half of the year; then, they are the first and only platform to support quad-core CPUs (4 cores). This platform has also blessed the mobile world with a variety of devices to choose from such as the HTC One X, SAMSUNG Galaxy S III, SONY Xperia S e.t.c. The list goes on and you can tell that these guys know what they are doing and are likely to continue to impress even still the end of the year.
BLACKBERRY OS: It has been a very boring first half of the year for the BlackBerry OS as they have not brought anything new to the table, hope they step-up their game pretty soon.
IOS: The platform owned by one of the technology giants “APPLE”. The first six month has turned out as we expected with the release of the IOS 6 and the IPAD 3. With the release of their next phone to come much later in the year, iPhone may raise the bar again the second half of the year.
SYMBIAN: I know you may think I’m crazy adding the Symbian OS to this list but they have shown that they are here to stay with release of the 808 pure-view which is exclusive to this platform. Nokia 808 pure-view must definitely ring a bell as it is a 41 mega-pixel camera phone ( it’s mind blowing).
WINDOWS: Finally to the platform owned by MICROSOFT. This platform has done okay with the release of devices such as; the LUMIA 900, TITAN 2, and many others. The major thing we expected this year was the upgrade from version 7.5 to 7.8/8.0 which did not roll out this first-half but will be coming out within the second-half of the year.
