The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the promotion of Golden Eaglets coach to handle the national U-20 team, the Flying Eagles. In a communique released to the media yesterday after the NFF executive board meeting held in Abuja, the nation’s football governing body confirmed the appointment of the former FC Barcelona and Super Eagles winger. Emmanuel Amuneke has been given the mantle to continue the development of the U-17 boys that won the U-17 World Cup in Chile last year under his tutelage. The 1994 African footballer of the year, will be assisted by Kabiru Baleria and Emeka Amadi as Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper Trainer respectively. Amuneke, who scored the winner for Nigeria against Argentina in the final at Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games, will be hoping to lead the Flying Eagles to the 20th Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Zambia next year. In another related news, the NFF also stated in the communique that former Super Falcons captain Florence Omagbemi has been appointed as the coach of the Super Falcons. However, the NFF issued just a warning to Super Eagles’ coach Sunday Oliseh for his recent outburst on his Youtube channel and also relieved Tijani Babangida of his duties as Personal Assistant to Oliseh.
