The Nigeria Amputee team, have crashed out of the ongoing
2018 Amputee World Cup in Mexico, after loosing out on a chance to be amongst the four best losers to join the group leaders in the Round of 16, due to a massive goal difference.
The Nigerian team, fell to Brazil and Russia, 6-0 and 3-0 respectively, in their opening games of the tournament, and were left with a 9 goal deficit prior to their last group game.
In a bid to redeem themselves, the Special Eagles, went on to defeat El Salvador, 1-0 in their final game.
And, things may have turned out differently for the Nigerian team, if the next series of events did not play out as they did.
The Ghanian team, failed to show up for their game, handing their Group B opponents a free 3 points.
The Liberian team, on the other hand, ran into some difficulties, and were discontinued, leaving their Group F counterparts with a free 3 points advantage.
These chain of events knocked down the Special Eagles’ chances of making it into the Round of 16 of the World Cup.
The team will, however, remain in Mexico to play the classification category matches for the
World Amputee Football Federation table.
