Amina Oyagbola, MTN’s Head of Human Resources, is stepping down from her position. She is reported to have put in a request to exit the company.
Mrs. Oyagbola became known for frequently wearing yellow clothing in public appearances, in order to identify with the MTN brand- a practice which earned her the nickname “Y’ello lady”.
Funsho Aina, MTN’s PR and Protocol Manager, described Mrs. Oyagbola as having “an exemplary work ethic”. He said she would be missed by the company.
“MTN is grateful for her loyalty and dedication over the past 12 years and wishes her success in her future endeavors”, Aina said, in a message quoted on the Nigerian Communications Week website.
Oyagbola joined MTN as corporate services executive in 2004. She assumed the position of Human Resources Executive in 2008, and is credited with improving the condition of service for the company’s employees. She was also pioneer director at the MTN foundation. Prior to working with MTN, she held various positions at the United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Shell.
