Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President & Managing Director Viacom International Media Networks Africa, owners of media brands MTV, MTV Base, Nickelodeon, BET International and Comedy Central among others, is to give the keynote speech at LEAP Africa’s Social Innovators Programme and Awards (SIPA) in Nigeria.
The Social Innovators Programme and Awards (SIPA) takes place at City Hall, Catholic Mission Street, Lagos Island at 4:00 pm on Thursday 13 November.
Established in 2002, Leadership, Effectiveness, Accountability and Professionalism (LEAP) Africa, is a nonprofit organisation committed to developing dynamic, innovative and principled African leaders, that has dedicated its efforts to working with visionary youth, business owners and social entrepreneurs.
Over the years, LEAP has inspired and equipped its beneficiaries to lead ethically while implementing positive change projects that transform their communities and organisations, thereby sustaining livelihoods and contributing to national development.
Okosi, a tireless supporter of initiatives that motivate, empower and educate Africa’s youth, is the driving force behind pro-social campaigns that have impacted the social and cultural landscape of urban Africa.
He will address social entrepreneurs, innovators and change-makers from the six geopolitical zones across Nigeria on the subject of “Africa Re-Imagined”.
Alex Okosi will discuss the ways in which VIMN Africa and multimedia entertainment brands like MTV Base and Nickelodeon have helped change the image of Africa abroad, and empowered African youth by facilitating the growth and development of the continent’s music and audio visual industries, as well as addressing key social issues such as financial literacy and education.
He will also share his personal insights into creating a successful social enterprise in sub-Saharan Africa, including key considerations to take into account when building a successful entity.
Okosi said, “Social innovation is one of the keys to fulfilling the potential of Nigeria on the world stage, and I am honoured to be addressing this group of young achievers who are all working, in their way, towards a re-imagined Africa.”
