According to a report by
This Day, Akwa-Ibom state is set to import 2,000 pregnant cows. The cows, which are currently being quarantined are expected to ship from Mexico, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Charles Udoh, said during an interview in Uyo.
Udoh further explained that the state government has set up a colony and ranching area in an urban Local Government Area of the state where the cattle will be bred.
He, however, disclosed that the plants cultivated to feed the cows were yet to reach maturity but once they did, the cows would be brought in. Udoh explained that the move was to make the state self-sufficient where meat production is concerned.
