Trace showed a one-hour special titled ‘
A Celebration Of African Culture’ on Sunday 5th August 2018.
Visit To New Africa Shrine
Only last month, TRACE Events, the events arm of the afro urban media group, hosted President Emmanuel Macron of France to a high profile event at the
New Africa Shrine, making it the first time any sitting president would be a guest at the iconic music and culture centre in Lagos.
Viewers will have an inside peek into the highlights of the evening, which was a true celebration of African culture, and entertainment, including the exhilarating live performances by
Femi Kuti, the scion of the Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, afro-pop queen Yemi Alade, and Ara the talking drummer, as well as the presentation of Kareem Waris Olamilekan, an 11 year-old artist’s hyperrealist pencil drawing of the president.
The French president recalled memorable times he had in Nigeria and at the Shrine during his internship in the country 16 years ago, adding that the New Africa Shrine holds cultural and political symbolism for Africa.
According to Sam Onyemelukwe, Managing Director of TRACE Anglophone Africa:
“It was truly an honour for TRACE to host this very special event, and to do it on home soil for my team at Trace Nigeria was another level. The Trace Events team was amazing and delivered on TRACE’s mission to promote Afro-urban cultures to the world, the event also proved to the marketplace that TRACE is the most effective partner for events of this scale.”
The event was produced by TRACE Events, in conjunction with Eco Bank.
