ConnectNigeria’s Writers’ Conference 2019 is finally here. Yes, it is still a week to go but the much-anticipated event where established/successful writers impart their knowledge and experience into others writers will kick off on Saturday, September 21.
As with past editions where themes around the subject of scripts, poems, news, music, and so on were examined by seasoned professionals, the 2019 edition holds even more promises. It is split between several workshop sessions, panel session, keynote speeches and a major conference.
This year’s event shall have writers cutting across several genres of the Content space such as; Dare Olaitan –Scriptwriter, Chioma Ngaikedi -Poet, Film Maker, Arukaino Umukoro – Journalist, Sally Kenneth-Dadzie –Author, Efe Paul Azino – Poet, Jerry Chiemeke -Editor, Culture Critic, Lawyer, Vangegh Begha – Author, Writer, Creator, Awele Ilusanmi – Author, Tomilola Adeyemo – Scriptwriter, Olu Balogun – Writer, Poet, Joey Akan –Journalist, Oghenekome Ozoro – Editor, Sunday Abegunde – Author, Chidi Nwaogu- Co-founder & CEO of Publiseer and Chika Nwaogu- Co-founder & CEO of Publiseer.
Since its inception in 2014, Connect Nigeria’s Writers’ Conference, which grew out of a need to create a bolstering community, has evolved into an initiative where writers can exchange ideas, share information, form partnerships and grow together. From Publishing/Editing, to Professional Writing, to Creative Writing, and Content Writing; seasoned and experienced writers will be conducting sessions aimed at improving the writing craft as well as opening participants up to the real business of writing.
The well structured sessions are based on writing opportunities open in, and affiliated to the realities of, the Nigerian content market space. However, the principles which shall be examined in the Conference are very much applicable in the international space as well. It is now a common saying that it is not just enough to encourage people to write, it is equally important to expose them to everyday money-making avenues, tactics and means of excelling with their writings.
I am sure that you may have considered the best way to write your way to the bank. This is why the objective for the 2019 Writers Conference has been left to revolve around exposing writers to the various money-making opportunities in different fields of writing.
With an approach centered on practicality, participants are assured that convoluted and pipedream expectations which are a commonality in ordinary talkshops will be avoided. The goal at the end of the Conference is that participants should leave with concrete values applicable in the real world.
So get set for Saturday, September 21- cross out other impediments on your calendar; and ensure that you do not miss out in participating in the 2019 Conference themed – “The Business of Writing: Translating Writing into Money.”
