Since 2014, Connect Nigeria, a Nigerian information portal that provides articles and information on everything Nigerian, started an initiative of its corporate social responsibility through its Writers Conference. Today, this initiative continues and I will be sharing why the CN Writers’ conference is the best investment you can give yourself.
The Writers’ conference, themed The Business of Writing: Translating Writing into Money, creates a platform where a community can be formed. A community where writers can exchange ideas, share information, form partnerships and grow together.
Guest speakers are chosen from various genres of writing who will serve as coaches, mentors, and guides. This year, Connect Nigeria has gathered the best of the best in the field of writing in all of Nigeria to share their ideas and tips on how to make money through writing. These are professionals who have mastered the art of writing and are doing what you want to do – earn enough through your writing so it can be the main deal and not the side hustle. They will help and guide your writing. The list of the speakers are:
Dare Olaitan – scriptwriter; he is the writer of Knock out Blessing released earlier in the year.
Chioma Ngaikedi – poet, filmmaker, motivational speaker, and brand promoter
Arukaino Umukoro – Journalist

It is an opportunity to learn more about writing and how you can convert your favorite pastime to something profitable that can end up employing others while paying you. This year, the Conference is going to explore the theme through workshops, panels and keynote speeches. It sure will be a loaded event that you will not regret!
For this year, the Writers’ Conference’s official event partner is Okadabooks. Okadabooks is a book reading/publishing platform for anyone who is looking forward to publishing any written content or reading published works. It’s basically a free application for everyone.
It is an opportunity to network and meet people who are interested in you and your work. One of the best things you can do for yourself is to get to know editors, agents and every important person in your industry. You can create new friendships and meet people who will play pivotal roles in the publishing of your next book or movie.
You will get resources that will help you not only for your next project but for a lifetime. Resources such as recordings of the workshop and recommended books by the professionals. They will be sharing things from experience things that have helped them take the flight to where they currently are.
Through the conference, you can get the needed energy, motivation or inspiration for your next publication or award.
You will learn more about different genres and perhaps find a niche that you will be comfortable with. It will question your beliefs and limitations and challenge you to aim higher and do more.
Finally, its only 9 days to the 9 reasons myself and other intentional writers will be attending the Writers’ Conference. You shouldn’t miss the next one!
