A special aviation 10-man committee has began to review 120 safety recommendations and their application by airlines, regulators and aircraft manufacturers.
The committee was picked from the
Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA),
Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) and the
Ministry of Transport.
The AIB, from investing accidents between 2007 and 2017 has been able to issue 120 safety recommendations from the investigated incidences during the period.
Near-tragic incidences
According to
The Guardian, the Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of AIB, Akin Olateru, at the inauguration of the committee in Lagos, said the plan which was initiated by the Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, was a necessary move to ensure safety considering the near-tragic incidences that have occurred in the sector recently.
Some of the members of the committee include; Olateru; Charles Erhueh Irikefe (AIB); Sadik Abdulsalam Abunaka (AIB); Roland Nwaohiri (AIB); Iteke Ifeanyi (NCAA); Capt. J.O. Vincent (NCAA); S. Aminu (NCAA), Awogbami Clemet (ministry).
Sirika also approved the addition of experienced industry experts to the committee. They are Capt. Kiddie Dare and an engineer, Gbolahan Abatan. The committee is to return its findings to AIB in 30 days.
