American heavyweight champion,
Deontay Wilder, has accepted
Anthony Joshua’s challenge for a title unification fight in the United Kingdom.
Wilder who has held the WBC heavyweight title since 2015 has been taking shots at AJ to provoke a fight, and right now it would seem that the American has gotten his wishes, as he claims to rip Joshua of his belts.
I am Ready!
Following Joshua’s win on points over Parker on
Saturday, March 31st, the Brit called out Wilder. After defeating Parker in front of a 78,000 capacity crowd at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff, Joshua said:
“IBO, WBO, WBA, IBF. I’m not into the hype, let’s get the business done. Let’s see what the future holds, I’m down for whatever, whenever… Wilder, let’s go, baby, let’s go! I want Wilder. Or Fury. Get him [Wilder] in the ring and I’ll knock him spark out.”
The British-Nigeria also made it very clear that he will only face Wilder in the UK, and the American has accepted this term.
Let’s Go, Joshua!
Wilder responded in a video:
“First of all, I want to congratulate Anthony Joshua on his win last Saturday night. Anthony, I am so glad we finally heard from you on Saturday and that you want to fight me as your next opponent and you want the fight to happen in the UK. I accept that challenge and I am ready to come to the UK for my next fight. There is nothing on Team Wilder’s side to prevent me from fighting you next… You also said on Saturday that your team is ready to meet with [Wilder co-managers] Shelly Finkel and Al Haymon from my side to get this deal done. They are also ready to meet with your team immediately. Let us know when – the sooner the better. Thanks, Anthony. I can’t wait to meet you in the ring.”
