NLC Set to Demand New Minimum Wage

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba, has said a new minimum wage will be presented to the government in the near future, cited The Nation. This was announced at a conference of the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU). The five-year period previously set for the review of a minimum wage has elapsed. The Congress is collaborating with the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to determine a figure for submission to the government. According to Wabba, the recent announcement made by members of the Nigeria Governors Forum of plans to discontinue payment of the N18,000 minimum wage was in an attempt to block the demand for an upward review.   Source: The Nation
