Traveling is fun and adventurous if the stress part is taken off of it. Many people are afraid of traveling by roads but there are safety precautions to be taken when traveling that can help keep the adventure as an adventure and not a “testimonial experience.”
Here are few tips that would help you have a smooth journey:
Plan your route ahead of time:
Many problems most people encounter when traveling is the trouble with locating their destinations. Rather than wait till you get to where you’re going to get proper directions, why not gather as much information as you can ahead of the journey, Take out some time to study the route if you’re driving, make use of Google maps, have an extra battery and a battery charger and power bank, to keep your phone fully charged for when you need to contact someone for directions. Planning ahead makes us to concentrate on the traffic and confident in where we are going as we do not have to worry about any added distractions like suddenly becoming Dora the explorer.
Pack A Survival Kit:
You are travelling by roads remember, nothing is more discouraging than being stranded because of a car breakdown. Pack an extra bag for your survival items, always travel prepared, if possible pack warm blankets, food and water, a candle, phone chargers, before you leave.
Don’t Get Too Comfortable Till You Reach Your Destination:
Call ahead to inform those you are meeting of your travel plans. Please, try not to sleep on a bus filled with strangers. Stay awake till you reach your destination. Write the plate number of the vehicle you boarded and inform your relatives. If you are entering interstate buses, remember to write your name at the bus parks and board vehicles only at the designated park.
If you are Driving Yourself:
Avoid getting distracted while driving by putting away every source of distraction such as cell phones, iPods, laptops, etc. That call or text can wait; it may save your life. If you need to use the phone, find a safe place to pull over. Also, make sure your vehicle is in good condition. Never drive tired, get a good night’s sleep before heading out for a long drive. Don’t drink and drive…EVER! Don’t text and drive…EVER! Always buckle up. Many lives are saved every day by seatbelts. Allow plenty of time to get to where you are going. There are a lot more vehicles on the road during the holidays.
Be careful.
