The replacement, however, was confirmed by the verified Twitter handle of the Super Eagles on Monday, May 16, 2022.
“We will now play Mauritius in our 2nd match of the AFCON 2023 qualifiers,”
a statement on the Twitter page of the three-time African champions confirmed.
When Are The 2023 AFCON Qualifiers Commencing?
Furthermore, Nigeria will square off against Sierra Leone in their first group game on June 9, 2022, in Nigeria before facing Mauritius for their second leg on June 13.
Finally, two teams are expected to qualify from each group for the 2023 AFCON finals. The tournament is to be held in Cote d’ Ivoire, 38 years after they last hosted in which Cameroun won.
